在加入新聞教育事業之前，王悅博士曾在內地從事新聞報導和編輯工作。她致力於探索在數碼時代新聞工作的變革與創新，也在不斷嘗試包括事實查核，數據驅動敘事等新聞實踐。她的研究興趣在新聞共同體的文化與實踐變革。她教授的科目包括傳播學理論，傳播與全球化，數據新聞, 事實查核及數據可視化等。

王博士本科畢業於北京大學英語語言文學系，曾分別在香港浸會大學和城市大學取得兩個碩士學位，並於香港中文大學取得博士學位。
